The James Hunter Six – Nick of Time

21 januari 2020|Releases|

The James Hunter Six are back with another sublime offering of no nonsense rhythm and blues. Recorded and produced by Bosco Mann, Nick of Time is a shining example of how a master song-smith can continually draw fresh water from a bottomless well. In addition to the uptempo, swinging R&B that has put JH6 on the map, Nick of Time explores so much more!

Recensie: Tinsley Ellis – Ice Cream In Hell

21 januari 2020|Recensies|

The SteelDrivers – Bad For You

20 januari 2020|Releases|

Bad For You, the fifth album from Nashville's hard-edged bluegrass band The Steeldrivers, arrives after a period of triumph and adaptation. The band's 2015 release, The Muscle Shoals Recordings, won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album.

Interview | The Teskey Brothers – Run Home Slow

19 januari 2020|Interviews|

Recensie: Malone Sibun – Come Together

19 januari 2020|Recensies|

G Love & Special Sauce – The Juice. Special guests Marcus King, Keb’ Mo’, Robert Randolph

19 januari 2020|Releases|

Recorded in Nashville with a slew of special guests including Robert Randolph, Marcus King, and Roosevelt Collier, G Love's new release ‘The Juice’ is indeed diploma-worthy. Co-produced and co-written with GRAMMY-winning icon Keb Mo’, it’s an electrifying collection, one that tips its cap to more than a century of blues greats even as it offers its own distinctly modern pop spin on the genre and solidifies his place in music history as a genre-bending pioneer with a sound.

Whitney Shay – Stand Up!

17 januari 2020|Releases|

Stand Up! - it’s not just an album title, it’s an order, forcing anyone who hears Whitney Shay’s brand of rocket-fueled R&B onto the dance floor. A flame-haired stick of dynamite in a sparkling dress, this San Diego phenomenon has made a record for dancing, drinking and dreaming, with songs to soundtrack the peaks and punches of life. “I make high-energy soulful rhythm ‘n’ blues,” she explains, “that makes people dance and feel something deep inside.”

Jeremiah Johnson – Heavens To Betsy

17 januari 2020|Releases|

Some artists need smoke and mirrors. All Jeremiah Johnson needs are songs. In the age of manufactured pop, the acclaimed St. Louis bandleader is a beacon of time-honoured songcraft, writing on acoustic guitar, digging deep for raw lyrics and insisting on studio production that bottles the sweat of his shows. The approach might sound old-school, but on latest record Heavens To Betsy, the result is some of the most vital music of the new decade.

Lynne Hanson – Just Words

15 januari 2020|Releases|

In February 2020 Ottawa based songwriter Lynne Hanson will release her seventh studio album, "Just Words" on CD and LP. Too tough for folk and too blues influenced for country, Lynne's brand of "porch music with a little red dirt" can turn on a dime from a sunshine, blue sky ballad to a full-on thunderstorm of gritty Americana swamp from one song to the next.
