The latest release from Too Slim (aka Tim Langford) and the ever-rocking Taildraggers, ‘High Desert Heat’, again drives along as a full-on, hi-energy bit of self-assured rock-blues that always succeeds and satisfies. In reality, Langford seldom puts a foot wrong and recent releases have been generally well-received and anticipated by a growing horde of global music fans.

‘High Desert Heat’ is a ten-track effort that features Langford’s driving vocal delivery and a purpose and power that makes the album pretty irresistible in almost every way. Each of the band’s last six releases have been major Billboard Blues chart toppers in the USA and ‘High Desert Heat’ is likely to add to the tally with its mix of originals and covers that include highly enjoyable takes of the likes of The Chambers Brothers, while the striking title track is a masterful instrumental highlighting some deliciously understated slide-guitar work from Langford himself.

This is an album that will easily delight Langford’s fans and should also appeal to anyone who loves modern rocking-blues that holds echoes of rippling quality, innovation and originality at its core. An album worth searching out, ‘High Desert Heat’ is a blistering offering from a US band working at the very top of their game. One to savour, for sure.
