Wilko Johnson, the singer-songwriter and Dr Feelgood guitarist, has died aged 75.
Johnson developed a distinctive, finger-picked style that blended percussive stabs and fluid licks, allowing him to play lead and rhythm guitar at the same time.
A statement was posted to Johnson’s official Twitter account, which read, “This is the announcement we never wanted to make, and we do so with a very heavy heart: Wilko Johnson has died. He passed away at home on Monday 21st November. Thank you for respecting the family’s privacy at this very sad time. RIP Wilko Johnson.”
