DJ Maestro groeide op in een zeer muzikale familie, begon op jonge leeftijd viool te spelen en deed in zijn jeugd succesvolle samenwerkingen met verschillende orkesten. Hoewel zijn ouders hem aanmoedigden om te blijven spelen, ontdekte hij tijdens zijn studie muziekwetenschappen aan de Universiteit van Utrecht twee nieuwe passies: jazz en radio. Niet lang daarna ruilde hij zijn viool in voor een baan bij Jazz Radio. Zijn onvoorwaardelijke liefde voor klassieke-, jazz- en clubmuziek resulteerde uiteindelijk in de geboorte van een prettig gestoord muzikaal fenomeen: DJ Maestro.
Inmiddels zijn we tien jaar verder en heeft DJ Maestro negen albums uitgebracht op het befaamde Blue Note Records, twee albums gemaakt voor het evenzo roemruchte Verve en werd hij verleden jaar door het uit New York afkomstige Bethlehem Records gevraagd om in de rijke catalogus te duiken. Een ware droombaan voor een pure liefhebber. In 2014 verscheen het eerste resultaat in de vorm van het album Bethlehem Blends by DJ Maestro en dit jaar kreeg hij een klus om helemaal bij te watertanden. Hij mocht het legendarische debuut Little Girl Blue van Nina Simone uit 1958 onder handen nemen. Hiervoor benaderde DJ Maestro een aantal van zijn favoriete producers, waaronder Mop Mop, Renegades Of Jazz, Gramophonedzie en Fab Samperi, en vroeg hen de nummers met passend respect te herbewerken. DJ Maestro, raised in a musically family, started playing the violin at an early age. After successfully having worked with different orchestras during his youth, his parents encouraged him to keep playing. But while studying musical science at the University of Utrecht, Maestro developed new passions: jazz and radio. It made him trade his violin for a job at national Jazz Radio.
Meanwhile he discovered the party scene and fell in love once again; in love with the beats, in love with the life style, in love with the late nights and early mornings. Through never ending support of one of Holland’s biggest deejays, Eddy de Clercq, Maestro soon stood in front of major crowds in Amsterdam based clubs such as Roxy, Escape and Paradiso
His love for classical, jazz and club music results in this crazy yet amazing musical phenomenon: deejay Maestro.
10 years later, Maestro released 9 platina rewarded albums for Blue Note records, 2 albums for Verve/Universal, has a new contract at Bethlehem Records, runs several jazz festivals and clubnights in Holland, played all 5 continents and started his own online radio station www.jazzradio.nl.
The only thing that didn’t change is his love for JAZZ.
