mascot messenger

Mascot Label Group is thrilled to announce the first edition of our new free quarterly newspaper, Mascot Messenger. The exciting new publication will be distributed throughout Europe and will give the reader a little insight into the label with news and regular interviews from the various artists signed to Mascot Label Group. Distribution in the US will follow throughout 2016.

Mascot is a proudly independent record company with a rich history that specializes in guitar based music, using four different labels to cover the various styles: Mascot Records (rock and metal – Black Stone Cherry, Monster Truck, Black Label Society, Counting Days, Stoneghost), Provogue (blues flavoured rock – Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Robert Cray, Beth Hart, The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band), Music Theories Recordings (progressive rock – Flying Colors, Teramaze) and Cool Green Recordings (alternative rock – De Staat, Black Crippled Phoenix).

Talking about the label, owner Ed Van Zijl adds; “In the end, it all comes down to the guitar, the instrument I adore. If played right, it is the most expressive tool in music, after the voice of course. We are very lucky in being able to work with great talents such as Joe Bonamassa, Beth Hart, Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Walter Trout, Robert Cray, Leslie West, Robben Ford, Warren Haynes amongst others but also in the past bands like Volbeat. It’s not just the music but also the stories they have that are great. We will try and share some of that through this paper.”
