Shemekia Copeland – Deluxe Edition
Format : CD / Label : Alligator Records / Release : 18 January 2011
Shemekia Copeland is the most popular female blues artist of her generation, with nearly 220,000 in sales worldwide from just five career releases. “Deluxe Edition” features the essential Alligator recordings by this soul-shaking vocalist.
From her highly-acclaimed releases to scores of knockout festival, theatre and club performances around the world, to appearances on Letterman, Conan O’Brien, CBS Saturday Early Show, NPR’s Weekend Edition and World Café, and the award-winning Martin Scorsese blues documentary series, Shemekia proudly carries the torch passed on by legends like Koko Taylor and Ruth Brown.
“Deluxe Edition” features the best tracks from four Alligator releases: 1998’s groundbreaking debut Turn The Heat Up, 2000’s Grammy-nominated Wicked, 2002’s Blues Music Award-winning Talking To Strangers and 2005’s The Soul Truth, another Blues Music Award-winner. Also included is Shemekia’s holiday favorite, “Stay A Little Longer, Santa,” previously available only on Alligator’s Genuine Houserockin’ Christmas release.
“Deluxe Edition” packaging includes never-before-published photos and a special mini-poster insert in addition to a fully annotated booklet.

Franky b.
