Provogue Records (record label from Joe Bonamassa and Walter Trout to name a few) is very happy to announce the recent signing of some great blues artists:
Mitch Laddie ; 18 year old blues guitar newbie
Stefan Schill ; the young blues guitar promise
Eric Sardinas ; the delta blues dobro-guitar singer
Popa Chubby ; impressive blues gitarist, the originator of “New York City Blues”
Popa Chubby is a true native son of the Big Apple, at age sixteen he picked up his first guitar and never put it down.
“When I first heard Freddie King my world was turned upside down. I was 19 and this older cat in the neighborhood played me the Just Pickin’ record and I was knocked out cold. I thought, ‘Man, that’s what I wanna be when I grow up’.”
Before long he was playing every club in New York. The combined experiences of backing a variety of artists helped shape his vision of what he now calls “New York City Blues.”
“New York is a melting pot of social and musical cultures, and “New York City Blues” is an amalgam of all those styles,” explains Chubby.
In 2010, Provogue Records will release Popa Chubby’s first album on Provogue Records!
In the meanwhile you can catch him on tour later this year:

It was music such as gospel, Motown and R&B that eventually caused him to seek out the emotionally charged acoustic sounds of the Deep South. Delta titans like Charlie Patton, Son House, Robert Johnson, Skip James, Bukka White, and Fred McDowell were among his favorites. Rural country blues players such as Barbecue Bob and Blind Willie Mctell were later added to his list, as was the electricity of the Chicago blues sound.
After years of “inhaling” the essence of these various styles of music, Eric Sardinas finally “exhaled”, resulting in his very original musical style.
This fall Eric Sardinas will go back to the studio to record his first album for Provogue Records, to be released in 2010.

When he was 16 years old Stefan started out with unexperienced musicians and gained a reputation at the local clubs in his hometown. This changed throughout the years. Not only did he gain more reputation, he also formed a band that includes musicians who have an enormous drive and the right motivation, education, talent, vibe and the will to be as good as they’ll ever be.
The band is working harder then ever to get the right material for the album. “If you want to be able to guarantee a great album you have to come up with the right material. And the only way to get this done is to work your ass off”
Expect Stefan Schill’s debut on Provogue Records in 2010.

The people from Provogue said about Mitch : “When we first saw Mitch Laddie play he shared the stage with Walter Trout in Paradiso, Amsterdam. We were so blown away by his performance and massive talent that we started negotiating a record deal right away.”
As Walter Trout quoted “There’s a kid in England who’s name is Mitch Laddie who is sixteen and he plays with the authority, passion and feeling of a guy who has been at it for fifty years!” Mitch has turned eighteen in the meanwhile and his authority, passion and feeling has only grown exponentionally in the last two years.
As we speak, Mitch Laddie is in the Blast studio’s recording his first CD for Provogue Records with producer Adam Sinclair. This yet untitled recording will be released early next year.
