Op 21 en 22 januari verleden jaar gaf de wereld bekende platinum-selling en Grammy genomineerde Blues-rock singer-songwriter en gitarist Joe Bonamassa 2 unieke geheel akoestische shows in het iconische Carnegie Hall in New York City. Beide optredens zijn op beeld vastgelegd en komen nu uit als ‘Joe Bonamassa Live At Carnegie Hall –An Acoustic Evening’. Een avond met buitengewone muziek, nieuwe arrangementen van favoriete songs alsook nieuwe niet eerder verschenen songs. Het geheel komt uit op 23 juni op 2CD, 2DVD, Blu-ray en 3 LP Vinyl.
Het concert was onderdeel van een speciale akoestische tour en schitterde met een all-star ensemble van wereldklasse muzikanten. Gerenommeerde Chinese celliste Tina Guo, wiens repertoire van klassiek tot heavy metal strekt, Hossam Ramzy, de Egyptische percussionist en componist, welke op vele film soundtracks en albums heeft gespeeld, waaronder op Jimmy Page en Robert Plant’s No Quarter: Unledded Tour. Reese Wynans (piano), Anton Fig (Drums) Eric Bazilian (mandolin, hurdy-gurdy, saxofoon, akoestische gitaar, vocals), en 3 Australische backing vocalisten, Mahalia Barnes, Juanita Tippins, and Gary Pinto.

Meer goed nieuws is dat Joe Bonamassa de winnaar is van de Sena Performers European Guitar Award 2017. De man uit Los Angeles krijgt op zondag 21 mei de prestigieuze oeuvre-award, afgekort SEGA, in Gebouw-T in Bergen op Zoom uitgereikt. De gitaarsensatie van dit moment is daarmee de opvolger van zijn landgenoot Steve Vai die vorig jaar de award uitgereikt kreeg. Eerdere winnaars waren onder meer Guns N’ Roses-gitarist Slash, Queen-gitarist Brian May en Steve Lukather van de band Toto. Bonamassa is zeer vereerd dat hij de SEGA in ontvangst mag nemen.
“Als ik zie dat er legendes zoals Brian May, Slash, Steve Lukather maar ook mijn goede vriend Walter Trout eerder deze prijs kregen, dan weet ik dat ik mij in goed gezelschap begeef. In de muziekwereld zijn er niet zoveel individuele prijzen die er echt toe doen. Maar deze gitaar-award zeker wel.”

Last year January 21st and 22nd world-renowned platinum-selling and Grammy nominated Blues-rock singer-songwriter and guitarist Joe Bonamassa performed 2 unique all-acoustic shows at the iconic Carnegie Hall in New York City. Both performances were filmed and made into ‘Joe Bonamassa Live At Carnegie Hall –An Acoustic Evening’. An evening of extraordinary music with new arrangements of favorite songs as well as brand new, never-before-heard songs. It will be released on Double CD, Double DVD, Blu-ray and 3 LP Vinyl on June 23 and available for pre-order starting April 18. The video pieces include 104 minutes of Feature film, over 45 minutes bonus features and all are sold in beautifully designed packages that are perfect for a music lover’s collection.
The concert was part of a special all-acoustic tour and featured an all-star ensemble of world-class musicians. Everyone knows the old saying about how to get to Carnegie Hall, but Bonamassa has truly lived that advice. His entire life and musical career had been practice for this moment, and a young blues-boy finally made good on a childhood dream of playing one of the most hallowed stages in the world.
This stripped down, all-acoustic show allowed his fans a glimpse into his soul and presented a thrilling and musically dangerous spectacle akin to walking a tightrope without a net.
Live At Carnegie Hall – An Acoustic Evening will be available in stores on June 23rd as well as being featured on TV by Public Television and MTV Live (formerly Palladia) during the month of June.
