R&B legend Earl Gaines dies at age 74

Earl Gaines, a stone in the foundation of storied Nashville’s rhythm and blues scene, died on New Year’s Eve at St. Thomas Hospital. He was 74.

Mr. Gaines was featured prominently the 2004–2005 Night Train To Nashville: Music City Rhythm & Blues, 1945–1970 exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum — a display that brought renewed interest in Nashville’s rich R&B history.
