Drive-By Truckers Announce 5-LP Live Album, It’s Great to Be Alive!

For nearly 20 years, Drive-By Truckers have been serving up their own special brand of Southern rock, delivering 10 studio albums and playing thousands of shows along the way. Now, all their time on the road will culminate in a new live album, aptly titled It’s Great to Be Alive!

Recorded over three nights at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, the 5-LP/3-CD set will feature 35 songs that span the band’s entire career. “Part of the joy of this incarnation of the band has been digging back and seeing what this band can do with songs from various periods of our history,” singer/guitarist Patterson Hood says. “I’m proud of every lineup we’ve had and of the records that we’ve made, but this incarnation has brought a primal energy and personal camaraderie to the process that takes it all to new levels and we’ve been really excited about capturing that.”

For casual fans who balk at the notion of a 5-LP collection, the band will also release a 13-song, two-LP set called This Weekend’s The Night. Both versions will be released on Oct. 30 via ATO Records.
