Duane Allman's Last Show Found, To Be Released On CD: Allman Brothers Band - The Final Note

An extraordinary piece of rock history will finally be heard this October with the release of the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND's last show with founder and guitarist DUANE ALLMAN. Recorded October 17, 1971 at the Painters Mill Music Fair in Owings Mills, MD, the recording marks Duane's last show, as he was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident 12 days later. Recorded on a hand-held cassette machine by 18-year-old radio journalist Sam Idas, this music will be released for the first time on October 16.

Legendary British Blues Rock band Savoy Brown, led by founding member Kim Simmonds, is releasing their exciting new album, Ain't Done Yet, on Quarto Valley Records. The new album follows Savoy Brown's critically acclaimed 2019 album, City Night. "The new album continues the approach I've been taking with the band this past decade," says guitarist/singer/songwriter Kim Simmonds, who formed the band in 1965 in London, England, and is one of the longest running Blues Rock bands in existence. "The big difference with the new album is the multi-layer approach I took to recording the guitar parts. It's all blues-based rock music. I try to find new and progressive ways to write and play the music I've loved since I was a young teenager."

Mijn ingezonden brief van maart j.l. sloot af met: `De grote vraag is, hoe we een klimaat scheppen waarin we fasegewijs weer toegroeien naar een levendige muziekcultuur`. Ik heb proberen te beschrijven wat ik heb mogen beleven en hierin zitten zeker hoopgevende elementen. Uiteindelijk is het de vraag of de omstandigheden ertoe bijdragen, dat deze hoop verder uitgebouwd kan worden en er naast een levendige vooral een levende muziekcultuur zal blijven bestaan. Naast de artiesten zijn hier zoveel verschillende andere (beroeps-)groepen voor nodig (boekers, licht & geluid, zalen, sponsoren etc.), zo ook initiatieven als Blues Magazine en Dé Blueskrant en is naast alle liefde en tijd die er gestoken wordt in het mogelijk maken van dit soort evenementen ook -plat gezegd- geld nodig. Het `katoenplantje` zal het zwaar krijgen, het zaadje kan weer kiemen wanneer we ervoor zorgen dat die op vruchtbare bodem komt: All For One, One For All!

Het is goed te zien dat het publiek en de band grote behoefte hebben aan een normaal liveconcert. Vanwege het coronagedoe is er zo ongeveer niets te doen geweest en zo langzamerhand lijkt het weer een beetje de goede kant op te gaan. De stemming is geweldig en Kai is een uitstekend muzikant maar ook een top entertainer. Zijn aankondigingen en praatjes tussen de nummers zijn to the point en humoristisch.

'Wheels Keep Turning' is zijn vijfde album en opent met een rustig opgebouwde Each And Every Day, een song waarin hij de aandacht die je moet hebben voor je familie bezingt, en via een drietal vette gitaarsolo's zijn visitekaartje afgeeft. De beat up Strat op de CD hoes geeft zijn grote inspiratiebron Rory Gallagher aan en de blues die hij neerzet in een paar vlammende bluestracks.
