Peter Nande en Tim Lothar werden beiden in 1968 in Denemarken geboren.
Het lijkt een enorme afstand van Denemarken naar de Mississippi Delta, maar op de CD ‘Two For The Road’ is deze afstand in één keer overbrugd.
Tim Lothar begon als drummer, maar speelt op de CD geweldig akoestisch gitaar, terwijl z’n maatje Peter Nande op alle nummers nadrukkelijk aanwezig is met z’n mondharp. Als je de CD beluistert, dan moet je vaststellen dat heel eenvoudig ook heel mooi kan zijn.
Je gedachten dwalen af naar een houten veranda, waarop twee muzikanten zitten te spelen, met een aandachtige luisteraar in een schommelstoel op de achtergrond. Het is een zeer relaxte plaat, waarbij een minimum aan instrumenten wordt gebruikt. De menselijke stem, een gitaar, een washtub bas en het tikken met de voeten, dat zijn alle zaken die toegepast zijn. Er staan twaalf nummers op deze CD, die helaas nog geen veertig minuten duurt en dat is veel te kort voor zo’n meesterwerk. Er worden negen eigen nummers ten gehore gebracht en drie covers.
De meeste songs zijn vrij snel, maar bijvoorbeeld ‘Ain’t Too Old’ is een heerlijk melancholiek lied. De productie van het album wordt verzorgd door de Amerikaanse Bluesman James Harman, die ook gastvocalist is op enkele nummers en hierbij de humor niet schuwt. Mocht er iemand even willen bijkomen van een hectische tijd, zet dan deze CD op en na drie, vier keer draaien ben je weer helemaal ontspannen.
Een juweeltje van twee mannen die al diverse Bluesonderscheidingen in Denemarken hebben mogen ontvangen en terecht!

Peter Nande and Tim Lothar are two musicians who were born in Denmark 1968. From Denmark to the Mississippi Delta may be a long trip when you look at your road map, but on ‘Two for the Road’ you can hardly notice the distance between those different worlds. Originally a drummer, Tim Lothar handles the acoustic guitar very well on this record, while his mate Peter Nande is very present with his Jew’s harp. This record is the prove that a modest musical setting can also be very nice.

While you’re listening to ‘Two for the road’, your thoughts make a journey to a wooden veranda with two musicians on it. In the back ground we can see the listener, who’s paying full attention to the two guys playing their music. ‘Two for the road’ is a very relaxed record with just a few instruments. The human voice, a guitar, a wash tub bass and the rhythm of the feet are the only elements that can be heard on this CD. Unfortunately, this record of twelve songs is all ready over after forty minutes. Way too short for this masterpiece, that contains nine own songs and three covers.

Most of the songs are quite fast. On the other hand, ‘Ain’t too old’ is the prototype of a melancholic track. The American blues man James Harman is responsable for the production of ‘Two for the road’. On a couple of songs we can hear a vocal contribution full of humour of Harman. Having a hard time? Listen to this record three or four times and you’ll feel completely relaxed again. ‘Two for the road’ is a brilliant record of two people, that have all ready won several blues awards in Denmark. Listen to this record and you will conclude that Peter and Tim really deserved those awards. (Ger van Eldik)
