In the category of “Best Contemporary Blues Album,” Derek Trucks won for his acclaimed Already Free, beating out stiff competition from his wife, Susan Tedeschi; three-time Grammy™ Award winner Robert Cray; and talented newcomer Ruthie Foster.
Little Walter won “Best Historical Album” for The Complete Chess Masters, 1950 – 1967; and the great Buckwheat Zydeco won for “Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album” for Lay Your Burden Down.
Finally, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Jeff Beck received a “Best Rock Instrumental Performance” Grammy™ for the song “A Day In The Life” from his Performing This Week…Live At Ronnie Scott’s album
